Sustainability Statement.

At LUME ART LTD, sustainability is not a marketing claim — it’s the bedrock of our business. As London’s first 100% sustainable fine art studio, we believe that progress, artistry, and ecological responsibility must be beautifully intertwined. Every piece we create aims to reflect a better future — not only visually, but ethically.
1. Materials & Production Ethics
Frames & Mounting
• All frames are made using FSC®-certified wood from responsibly managed forests.
• No tropical hardwoods or chemically treated wood enters our supply chain.
• We partner with Genesis Imaging, a London-based fine art lab that adheres to environmentally conscious production standards.
• Frame finishes are water-based and low-VOC, ensuring indoor air safety.
b) Art Printing: Digital Purity
Our artworks are created through high-resolution, software-based digital processes that eliminate traditional art waste.
• We use specialised rendering software to create fluid chrome forms with unparalleled depth and movement.
• These artworks are then Giclée printed directly onto sustainable metallic papers — carefully selected for their reflectivity, depth, and recyclability.
• Our metallic papers, including Fuji Pearl and Kodak Endura Metallic, are sourced from environmentally certified mills, ensuring minimal impact during production.
We do not use any hand-painting, solvents, or brush techniques — our process is digitally native, immaculately clean, and future-forward.
2. Waste-Free Design Philosophy
• All LUME pieces are made-to-order or produced in exclusive, pre-defined batches — eliminating unsold inventory and reducing unnecessary production cycles.
• We design with intentionality, ensuring that each piece contributes meaningfully to a space and does not follow seasonal or disposable art trends.
• Unused test prints or development visuals are recycled or upcycled into in-house material boards.
3. Packaging & Zero Plastic Commitment
• Every artwork is shipped using 100% recyclable, plastic-free packaging, including corrugated sleeves, paper tape, eco-cushioning, and recyclable corner guards.
• We use custom-fit solutions that reduce bulk and void fill, optimising every delivery for both presentation and carbon efficiency.
• Framing wrap, artwork sleeves, and documentation envelopes are printed using recycled or FSC-certified papers.
No foam peanuts, bubble wrap, or plastic tapes are used in our logistics — ever.
4. Local Production for a Global Mission
• All LUME artworks are designed, printed, and framed in London to eliminate intercontinental freight emissions.
• Production takes place in collaboration with trusted London-based partners who adhere to ISO 14001-certified environmental systems.
• By sourcing locally, we also support the UK’s creative economy and green jobs.
5. Logistics: Art That Travels Responsibly
a) London Deliveries
All deliveries within Greater London are made using 100% electric vehicles, in partnership with verified eco-logistics firms. This includes both collection and bespoke artworks.
b) UK Nationwide
We prioritise sustainable delivery partners such as DPD’s electric fleet, Royal Mail’s low-emission routes, or other green transport services. When electric delivery is unavailable, we consolidate shipments to reduce emissions.
c) International Orders
International delivery is offered by request and carefully reviewed to weigh ecological impact. All overseas shipments must be agreed in writing and will be made with carbon offset contributions or sustainable carrier options where possible.
6. The Tree-Per-Inch Initiative
One Inch. One Tree. Every Time.
Every LUME artwork becomes a living agent of change. We operate under a world-first sustainability principle: one tree planted for every square inch of artwork sold. This initiative doesn’t just speak — it acts.
How It Works:
1. Surface Area = Trees Planted
• Each artwork’s physical size (e.g., 30x20 inches = 600 in²) determines the number of trees we plant on your behalf.
• Our smallest artwork plants hundreds of trees, while our largest can exceed 1,200 trees per piece.
2. Certified Reforestation Partners
• Trees are planted by reputable organisations such as [Ecologi], [One Tree Planted], or [TreeApp]*.
• We only work with partners that guarantee:
• Reforestation in deforested, biodiversity-rich areas
• Maintenance for at least 3 years post-planting
• Community-led protection and long-term care
• Transparent reporting and satellite monitoring
3. Your Choice, Your Forest
• At the point of purchase or consultation, you can choose where in the world your trees are planted — from Kenya, Madagascar, and the Amazon to local UK woodland regeneration projects.
4. Official Certification
• Each collector receives a personalised certificate confirming the number of trees planted and the CO₂ offset value.
Real Impact — Measurable Results
Scientific consensus shows:
• One tree absorbs approx. 10kg of CO₂ per year once matured
• 600 trees (our average artwork size) = 6,000 kg = 6 tonnes of CO₂ per year
• A single person’s average annual carbon footprint (UK) = ~12.4 tonnes
• One LUME artwork can offset almost half of a person’s footprint annually
• Our larger artworks (1,200+ trees) offset 12+ tonnes per year, equalling a carbon-neutral lifestyle
In short: LUME collectors don’t just buy art — they neutralise their existence.
You’re not only transforming your space — you’re transforming your impact.
7. Future Goals & Sustainability Roadmap
We don’t just comply — we innovate. Our long-term environmental ambitions include:
• Becoming a certified carbon-neutral company by 2026 through verified offsets and life-cycle audits
• Developing a modular framing system that allows future artwork swapping without waste
• Introducing vegan mounting solutions and biodegradable display formats for select installations
• Donating a percentage of profits to urban greening projects and climate education programmes for young artists
• Integrating blockchain-powered tree certification, linking each LUME piece to its forest legacy
8. Customer Involvement & Accountability
We believe that sustainability thrives in transparency. Our collectors are part of our ecosystem:
• All shipping, printing, and sourcing details are disclosed prior to purchase
• Sustainability metrics (e.g., carbon offset data, reforestation impact) will soon be available in your customer dashboard
• Customers may request detailed documentation of their tree impact at any time by contacting us
